Last week, Emma Watson abruptly chopped off her longish hair. She posted the above photo on her Facebook page, and mentioned something about how she “fancied a change” and that’s why the dramatically shorter locks. But, according to British sources, Emma chopped off her hair because she wanted to prove to director David Fincher that she was hardcore enough to transform herself for the part of a lifetime: Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. OK UK’s source says: “Emma has auditioned with director David Fincher and cut her hair to look the part. The character of Lisbeth is a misfit with spikey hair.”

Honestly, it takes more than a haircut to prove that you’re hardcore enough to play Lisbeth, but since my instant reaction to this gossip wasn’t absolute revulsion, let’s examine the idea of Emma getting the part, shall we?

I know a lot of people dislike 12-year-old Jaden Smith, our newest movie star. But I don’t feel like hating on a little kid, especially one who is totally bringing it. Now - I do admit I love Jaden’s dad Will. Will is the bomb, and he treats his fans with respect, and he’s actually a really solid actor. But Will never really brings it, fashion or style-wise. As for Jaden’s mom Jada - ugh. Her style is horrible. So where did Jaden get his style? How did Jaden learn how to be this righteous?

I know lots of people have a thing about kids’ hair and what it says about their parents, but I love when a kid is given free-reign to try different thing. That’s what those years are for! The one massive exception to that rule, of course, is teenage girls who dress like Taylor Momsen or Miley Cyrus. And even then, I feel uncomfortable making fun of them solely on their style - I try to combine it with criticism of their entitled little personalities.

So, at the end of the day, does Jaden’s righteous ‘fro matter? No, of course not. But I can’t help but think he’s one cool little kid just trying to find his way. Yes, his teenage years are going to be crazy. They’ll be difficult for all of us, I imagine. But I’m willing to give Jaden a shot, just because I think the kid’s going to end up really cool.

It’s gotten to the point where it’s difficult not to mock Renee Zelleweger. And I’m saying that as someone who likes her and thinks she’s talented. But as I’m going through the photos of Renee at last night’s premiere of My Own Love Song, I just feel like…ugh. Enough, Renee. You’re a pretty girl, but stop messing with your face, stop puffing out your thin chest, stop trying so hard to be this fancy style icon and just be yourself. Normal Renee is so much better than red carpet Renee.

Anyway, this is Renee’s newish hair. I think she’s grown out a more severe cut and added shorter bangs. In some of these photos, she looks like she’s aiming for “The Bieb” hairstyle - with the bangs pulled forward and swept across her forehead, she does look Justin Bieber-esque.

Oh, the dress is Vera Wang, by the way, not Renee’s favorite designer, Carolina Herrera. Do you think Herrera was like, “Renee, you got The Bieb?!? No, you cannot wear my dress!” I would like the dress better without all of the crazy layers - but if it was just a straight skirt, it would have been a look Renee has worn many, many times before, so it’s nice that she was trying something new.

I saw these photos a few hours ago, but I was concentrating on what I thought was a really ugly, cheesy, inappropriate denim jumper, I didn’t even notice LeAnn Rimes’ new hair. Re: the jumper… now that I’m really looking at it, I don‘t think it‘s denim, and it‘s actually a dress, not a jumper. But it‘s still horrid. As for the hair, apparently this is a new cut…? Us Weekly claims it’s new. I guess she hasn’t had bangs in a few years, but she used to, right? Like, several years ago. Check out how Us Weekly passive-aggressively writes about her bangs:

Oh, say can you see… LeAnn Rimes’ brand new hairdo!

The singer, 27, showed off blunt bangs and shorter locks while singing the National Anthem at Dodgers Stadium in L.A. Tuesday.

At the game, Rimes ran into Rihanna, who is dating outfielder Matt Kemp.

“Love Rihanna! She’s a doll! She hunted me down in the bathroom at the Dodgers game yesterday to say hi,” Rimes posted on Twitter Wednesday afternoon. “First time meeting her.”

Kate Gosselin and her busted weave were spotted out clubbing in New York. Kate was accompanied by her hairstylist, Ted Gibson, who claimed that the cheap-looking extensions he put in to fix Kate’s mullet would have retailed around $7,000. Along with the scoring the cover of People for Kate “new look” Gosselin, Gibson is showing off his latest work while out with Kate. I guess it’s a win-win situation for the mother of eight, who gets her styling comped in exchanged for free advertising, and the hairdresser. Kate’s kids were either home with their dad or with the nanny while Kate strutted her stuff in the big city:

Kate Gosselin obviously needs a little time for herself. The single mother of eight, who is trying to move on with her life since her very public divorce from Jon Gosselin in December, took a little trip to NYC to go clubbing with her new BFF and hairstylist Ted Gibson!

It’s great that Kate is getting out and enjoying life — and her six little ones didn’t seem to be too distraught that their mommy was away for the weekend. Kate’s sextuplets, Alexa, Joel, Hannah, Aiden, Leah, and Collin, were spotted all bundled up and playing in the Pennsylvania snow over the weekend!

Sources say Kate was at Butter nightclub in NYC on Friday night … and while her babies were home keeping warm in the winter snow, she was looking hot!
